Anticipated Movies for Summer 2010

Summer break is coming up soon, and I am saving up to go spend some cash on watching the movies that will come out this summer. The movies that are coming out all seem to have potential, so I decided to check them out.

1) Toy Story 3

Although many of you out there may think that this movie is childish, I'm sure that many fans have been anticipating this movie ever since the
Toy Story series first came out.

2) Predators

Predator 1 was a fantastic movie, but I have to admit the franchise slowly went downhill after the first. However, I want to put hope in this series, and wish for its success. To tell you the truth, the idea of rock hard marines fighting a technologically superior predator is pretty cool, no matter how you view it.

3) A - Team

The most anticipated movie of the year. I present to you, the A-Team.

Animal Farm

This movie was terrible. This movie gave me nightmares. This movie had terrible graphics. This movie had no real plot. This movie had a bad setting. This movie had bad voice actors. This movie helped me on my English test. This movie showed me the light? After reading the book Animal Farm for the fifth time, I got really bored and decided to watch the film version of it! Although a terrible film, I felt I had to tell you guys about it because it really helps you study for the test. Of course, only watching this movie is a terrible idea, but if you happen to have some free time, I recommend you watch this movie. It is on youtube and its in pretty good quality. Hope all of you get A's!

Saving Private Ryan

To try to spare myself from researching about D-Day, I decided to simply watch a historical movie about it. This must be a secret kept from my history teacher! Unless he sees this blog, I will trust you viewers to keep your silence. Saving Private Ryan was very graphic and intense and emotional. I also heard that it was the most realistic view of the the epic battle that ensured during World War 2. The artillary, the machine guns, the dead soldiers, all managed to keep me hooked for the better part of the movie. I have to admit the other subplots were a bit dull, but they were still watchable. For those of you who do not know, this movie is about a squad in World War 2 who is looking for a missing soldier named Ryan. They journey across Europe in order to find this soldier, and in the end they succeed. However, they face many obstacles, and not all of them manage to survive until the end. I really recommend this movie for all the people who find history dull because I find this movie great!

Rush Hour

The movie Rush Hour was a hour and a half long show of racism, violence, and offensive language. Thus, I could not help but love every minute of it. This movie was what I consider to be close to a masterpiece. Being Asian myself, I get easily offended over racist jokes. However, Rush Hour's racism still was able to get me laughing out loud. After I saw the first movie, I could not help myself but to see the second and third.

For those of you who did
n't see it, the plot is about a Chinese man and a black man. Do I need to say more? The two of them, despite their differences manage to work together proficiently and form an air of brotherhood. Thus, I really think this movie is something you must see.

No Time For Movies?

Lately I had no time for movies, so nowadays I'm getting frustrated. Movies used to be a big part of my life, but being in highschool is keeping me from pursuing my hobby. Thus, I fear that mt hobby for watching movies will have to stop, and
I will have to take up something less time consuming. So now I'm stuck with two options. Give up movies or give up my grades. Personally, I am not willing to give up both, so i decided to devise a plan. It would be to build a time machine and go to the past and do my homework and watch a movie at the same time. However, seeing that is impossible, I guess I'll just have to make-do by studying harder and watch movies either late at night or on the school bus.

My Favorite Television Series

I figured that television series can be viewed as really long movies. Thus, I decided to make a list of my favorite T.V. shows. Television is also a big part of my life and the shows that are on T.V. are sometimes just what I need to get rid of all the stress I had from the week. If you have time watch these shows and send me your thoughts and feelings as well! This list is completely opinion generated and is meant to help you choose what show you might want to watch.

1) South Park - Funny, Adult, Offensive

2) Family Guy - Funny, Entertaining, Offensive
3) House - Funny, Suspense, Drama
4) American Pie - Funny, Adult, Drama
5) Friends - Funny, Drama, Family Fun

Ghandi

We're learning about Ghandi in my history class, so I decided to take the time to watch the movie "Ghandi." While watching this movie, I was able to feel a connection between school and entertainment, something I rarely felt in my entire life. Thus, I can say that although this movie lacks the high packed action I usually enjoy, it was time well spent watching this. I was able to learn about how India was oppressed after The Great War, and how hard life was for the people there. The plot of the movie follows Ghandi from when he was in school to when he turns old. He stresses in fighting the enemy but not through violence. I learned so much today and feel enlightened. I recommend this movie to all history geeks like me!

D-War

This movie was a complete failure. Korean legends, good graphics, good action, I thought this movie had it all. However, twenty minutes into the film I left the theater and didn't come back. I didn't know if the actors were acting or just staring at the camera. It was a brutal movie to watch and the Korean legend that they portrayed was very dull as well. However, I have to admit that the battle scenes were okay to look at because of the amazing graphics. For those of you who didn't see the movie, it is about a guy who takes a girl called Yeoyijoo, and runs away from mystical giant snakes. These snakes apparently have legions of minions to do their bidding and have enough technology to take down the U.S. military. Thus, once more I stress that this movie was terrible. And if you have to watch it, good luck finishing it.

Kick-A**

Offensive title, hideous wetsuits, crime fighting action, and intense comedy was all this movie had to offer. And I loved it. Every moment of this movie was glorious and hilarious. I strongly believe that this movie will take over the box office and dominate the comedy genre for a really long time. In case you never heard of this movie, it is about an average teenager who decides to play the role of a superhero. The thing that he doesn't know is that there is a crime organization out there who put a large bounty on his head. After a terrible beating by some muggers on his street, he is rushed to the ambulance. Since he does not want to be found in his costume, he tells the doctors to say that he was naked; this leads to the speculation that he's gay. Thus, this is a must watch movie, and I hope you all enjoy watching the movie, "Kick-A**."

Great Movie, Great Effects, Bad Story. That is all.

Clash of the Titans

Clash of the Titans was a ripoff of James Cameron's Avatar. I guess it had pretty good computer graphics, but the story was terrible and the ends did not match up. I anticipated a dramatic war scene between humans and gods, but instead it showed a gigantic water monster getting killed in a matter of seconds.
For those of you don't know, this movie is about a demigod names Perseus who sets on an epic quest to take on the god of the underworld. He endures on an epic quest with fellow men and embark on a journey of love, fear, and glory. This movie is fulled with fights with monsters such as scorpions and unusual alliances between father and son.

The Truman Show

This week I decided to watch a classic, "The Truman Show". This movie is about a man named Truman, and his daily life at his home in a television set. Starting from the day he was born, Truman was filmed by hidden cameras all over the 'island', and the footage was released to the public. Truman lived like that for over ten thousand days, until he found out that something felt missing in his life. Later after he figures out the terrible truth, he sets out on his quest to wrench himself out of the director's bonds. This movie scared me in some ways more than a lot of horror movies did. The fact of being under inspection under a live cage got be thinking about what it would feel like if my whole life was a lie. Overall, this classic was fun to watch and I highly recommend it to you all.

District 9

District 9 is a very unique movie. Although it isn't the best movie I've saw, it gives you an understanding to how South Africa was and is today. It is about an alien race that gets stranded on the Earth. People go to investigate and later on the humans place the aliens in District 9 to live. District 9 is a classic ghetto, and the aliens there are subject to harsh treatment and no remorse. However, one day a man gets promoted to move the aliens to District 10. This process will change his life. A story full of action and science, this documentary style movie will hit you hard. Furthermore, while watching the movie, make sure to check the hidden symbols that are all throughout the movie such as the secret government organizations, and the harshness of medical experimenting.

Shutter Island

This movie is bound to give your mind a twist. The suspense and horror of "Shutter Island" is so incomprehensible that you have to see it to believe it. In the deep depths of Shutter Island something strange is going on. Mentally ill patients who have committed terrible crimes are disappearing. Marshall Andrew and his partner Chuck head there to figure out what exactly is going on on this island. Filled with graphic scenes from the holocaust, and with disturbing imagery, this movie gives off its suspense and horror feel in a detailed fashion. Personally, although this film was to my taste, I do not recommended it for the people with little tolerance for violence. The psychological and physical torture it shows on people is not good for young children or teenagers. Anyway, have fun watching this movie and pay attention to the twist at the end!

Saw Series

The Saw series. These movies are a hour and a half of arm chopping, leg ripping, head splicing, organ removing, eye shooting, hair dividing, heart stopping, bone crushing, brain swirling, and tongue chewing bloodbath of violence. I personally respect the Saw series for lasting this long, but the plot is so horrible that it makes me sick. However, the graphics and the fascinating traps intrigue me and forces me to watch more. Basically, the Saw series is about an old man who kills people who he decides who does not deserve to live. He murders them through strange ways by manipulating fear and pain. Although you may never watch this series in your life, if you see one movie, you are obligated to see the rest.

Shrek

I am not a big fan of animated movies, but I felt that if I was making a blog about movies, I had to talk about this one. "Shrek" is simply indescribable. There is something about this movie that cannot be put into words. The comedy, the intensity of the story, and the advance computer animations make this movie one of the bests movies in animated history. For those of you who didn't watch this movie, it is about an ogre who goes on a quest to save a princess in distress. If he fails, he will lose his home to a midget called Lord Farquad. Along the way he meets a talking donkey and many other fairy tale creatures. Join him in his fantasy adventure to save his swamp!

Dodgeball

Anyone who has seen this movie will agree with me that this movie was an outstanding comedy. The physical and reference jokes made me burst out with laughter in my seat. The characters are diverse, ranging from a man who believes he is a pirate, to a rejected guy in high school. Although I have seen this movie at least five times, the jokes never seem to get old, and the laughter just continues. My personal favorite part of the movie was when Average Joes got plummeted by some girl scout girls. If you did not see the movie, the movie "Dodgeball" is basically a story about a group of people who decide to save their gym by competing in a national dodge ball competition. The team is not very athletic or talented, but we can see their development through outstanding action and comedy.

The Lord of the Rings

The Lord of the Rings is a movie we've all seen. If you had not seen it yet, and you are reading this blog, please don't even bother reading this whole review. Usually, when an inspired director tries to turn a good book into a movie, it fails. For example, look at movies such as "Eragon" or "The Lightning Thief". They completely alter the way we see the book, and disappoint us with lack of plot fillers. However, The Lord of the Rings is a completely different story. The characters, the scenery, the plot all melts together to form in my opinion, one of the best films in history. Furthermore, the battle scenes in this movie is extremely well executed and we are able to be sucked in the scene of the fight without any effort at all. The Lord of the Rings, is the one movie to rule them all.

Avatar

The movie Avatar is an ama
zing film. And I guess by now everybody has seen it or have at least heard about it. Well for those who don't know, Avatar is a story which revolves around a marine who got his legs disabled while in action on Earth. He comes to a planet called Pandora, and instead of his well trained brother, he decides to participate in the Avatar program. Guys, I know and we all know that this was probably the best movie of the year so far. Although it is still in the early 2010s, I guarantee you this movie will be on the top list for a long time. The computer graphics and the depth of the story put me in a trance while I saw this delicate masterpiece. I'm glad that James Cameron had not failed me, and had given me a movie as good as this after his Terminator series. If you did not watch this movie, you're missing out on a lot of fun. I want to welcome all of you, to the world of Avatar.
